Just saw this headline about Daikin's stock volume jumping. I know they make those fancy AC units, but aren't they also big in compressors? Does this mean their tools are getting more expensive or better tech coming? Any thoughts?

Honestly, I wouldn't read too much into it. Stock trades don't directly affect the stuff we buy at Home Depot. Daikin is more about commercial HVAC, not your garage compressor. But if they're investing in R&D, maybe we'll see some cool inverter tech in future portable compressors.

I've been in the biz for 20+ years. Daikin is top-tier for big units, but their consumer compressor line isn't anything special. I'd stick with the usual suspects like Ingersoll Rand or Quincy if you want reliability. Stock hype is just noise, especially for us DIYers.

As a safety rep, I'd say keep an eye on any new tech that might affect pressure ratings or safety features. But honestly, a stock rise doesn't change the fact that your compressor needs regular checks. And if you're in the market, don't get swayed by headlines - do your homework on specs and reviews.
