DeWalt vs Makita Air Compressors: Which One Actually Holds Up?

So I'm in the market for a new pancake compressor for trim work and occasional framing nailer use. I've narrowed it down to the DeWalt DWFP55126 and the Makita MAC2400. Both are around the same price, but I'm torn. I've heard Makita is more reliable, but DeWalt has better warranty support. Anyone have experience with either? I'm leaning toward DeWalt 'cause I already have their batteries and stuff, but I want some real-world feedback.

I've been in the trades for 40 years, and I've owned both. The Makita MAC2400 is a beast, that thing just runs and runs. It's quieter than the DeWalt and has less vibration. I've had my Makita for 15 years, only had to replace the pressure switch once. DeWalt is OK but I've seen too many guys complain about the regulator failing. If you're on a budget, go with what's cheaper, but if you want to buy once and cry once, get the Makita.

It's lightweight and easy to carry around. The Makita is probably more durable, but the DeWalt is fine for what I do. Plus, you can't beat the warranty. The DeWalt is a little easier to service (the filters are cheaper). But honestly, for your use, either will do. If you're already in the DeWalt ecosystem, go with that. You'll save on batteries and maybe get a combo deal. But don't expect it to last forever if you're using it daily. The Makita is the workhorse. I'd say go with Makita if you can swing it.
