DeWalt vs Makita Air Compressors: Which One Should I Get?

Hey all, I'm in the market for a new air compressor for my garage workshop. I mostly do trim work and some furniture builds. I've narrowed it down to the DeWalt 6-gallon pancake and the Makita 2.5 HP 6.5-gallon. I've heard good things about both, but I'm torn. Anyone have experience with either? I need something portable but enough power to run a brad nailer and maybe a spray gun occasionally. Thoughts?

Starts every time, quiet enough for a garage, and it handles my finish nailer and even my HVLP spray gun without a problem. Plus the build quality is top-notch. DeWalt makes good stuff too, but if you want reliability and a smoother operation, go Makita. You won't regret it.

I'm not as brand loyal as some, but I've used both. Honestly, for what you're describing, either would work. But I'd lean DeWalt because they're usually a bit cheaper and parts are everywhere. I'll add a vote for Makita. I've had my Makita compressor for 5 years and it's been through a lot – I do mobile work and it bounces around my van. Never had an issue. The DeWalt might be cheaper upfront, but I've seen more complaints about the pressure switch going out and the pump being louder. Plus, Makita's warranty service is top-notch.
