Fresno City College's New Program: Solving the Tech Shortage?

Just read this article about Fresno City College's Advanced Transportation Center. Seems like a smart move to get students certified quickly. What do you all think? Is this the future of trades education?

Man, that sounds awesome! We need more programs like this. I wish I had that kind of training when I started. Would've saved me years of trial and error. Certification on day one? Sign me up!

Sounds good on paper, but I wonder about the quality of training. You can't rush precision. I've seen too many 'certified' guys who can't even torque a bolt properly. Hopefully they still emphasize the fundamentals.

I think it's a step in the right direction. The industry is desperate for techs, especially with all the electric vehicles coming. But I agree with Hank - they need to balance speed with thoroughness. I'd love to see a curriculum that includes hands-on woodworking too, ha!

As long as they use quality tools and teach proper techniques, I'm all for it. But I hope they don't cut corners. I've been loyal to my DeWalt tools for years, and the same goes for training - it should be built to last.
