Hey all, just a friendly reminder to always wear safety glasses when draining the tank on your air compressor. I was draining mine earlier and a piece of rust shot out and hit me right in the glasses. Would've been a trip to the ER without em. Stay safe out there!

Good call Betty. I always wear my DeWalt safety glasses even for small stuff. Also, don't forget to open the drain valve slowly. That rush of air can kick up debris real bad. I learned that the hard way.

I'll add: check your compressor's manual for the recommended drain interval. I see a lot of guys neglect draining and then get surprised by the gunk. PPE is a must, but regular maint helps too. Also, I use a catch bucket to aim the discharge away from me.

Wendy, good point about the manual. I'm guilty of not draining often enough. Tim, slow drain is solid advice. I was in a hurry today, lesson learned. Thanks guys!

No prob Betty. Better safe than sorry. And def agree on the bucket, Wendy. I got a cheap plastic pail I set under the drain valve. Catches the mess and muffles the sound a bit.
