Scored a DeWalt air compressor for $50 – worth it or junk?

Found a used DeWalt D55146 at a garage sale for $50. It's a 1-gallon pancake, looks rough but runs. Anyone have experience with these? I mostly do brad nailing and air stapling for small furniture projects. Worth picking up or should I pass?

For $50? Grab it. Those little DeWalts are tanks. If it runs now, it'll run for years. Replace the o-rings if the pump is slow, but even then it's a steal. I've restored dozens of these – they just need a good cleaning and maybe a new check valve. Go for it!

Agree with Mike. I use a similar model for trim work. Dependable as hell. Just check the tank for rust inside – that's the killer. If it's clean, $50 is a no-brainer. Even if the tank's shot, you can use it as a donor pump or sell the motor. But I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Thanks guys! Rust check – that's a good tip. I'll take a flashlight and peek inside. Fingers crossed it's clean. I'll post pics when I get it home. Appreciate the advice!
