Just saw this article about Fresno City College's program to get students certified almost on day one. Seems like a cool idea to tackle the tech shortage. What do you guys think? Can training really be that fast?

I think it's a step in the right direction. We've all seen how hard it is to find a good mechanic these days. But 'nearly certified' still means there's a learning curve. Hope they pair it with on-the-job training.

Honestly, I'm skeptical. You can't rush experience. I've seen too many 'certified' guys who can't diagnose a simple issue. Hope Fresno does it right, but fast-track programs often miss the fundamentals.

Back in my day, you learned by doing. But times change. If this gets more young people into the trade, I'm all for it. Just hope they have good mentors. Techs are worth their weight in gold now.
