DeWalt vs Makita impact wrench - which one for automotive work?

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a cordless impact wrench for automotive work (mostly lug nuts, suspension, etc). I've narrowed it down to DeWalt or Makita. Which one do you prefer and why? I've used DeWalt before but heard Makita has better battery life. Any advice appreciated!

I've used both extensively in my restoration shop. DeWalt's high-torque impact (DCF899) is a beast for lug nuts, but Makita's XWT08 is no slouch either. Honestly, it comes down to what battery platform you're already invested in. If you have DeWalt batteries, stick with them. Makita's 18V LXT is great but their 40V is even better if you wanna spend more. For automotive, I'd lean DeWalt just because their mid-range impacts are more affordable and readily available. But you can't go wrong with either.

I'm a woodworker but I do some car maintenance on the side. I have Makita for my woodworking tools and bought their impact wrench. It's been solid. Battery life is impressive, I can do a whole brake job on one charge. But I've heard DeWalt has more torque for the really stubborn bolts. If you're doing heavy suspension work, maybe DeWalt? Just my 2 cents.

I do renovations and also work on my trucks. I've got the DeWalt 20V MAX XR impact wrench and it's never let me down. Removed axle nuts that were rusted to hell. The only downside is the weight, but that's typical for high-torque. Makita is lighter, but I feel like DeWalt has the edge in raw power. Plus, their customer service is great if you ever have issues. Go DeWalt.
