Hey y’all! I’m finally upgrading my impact wrench for working on my old truck. I’m stuck between the DeWalt DCF899 and Makita XWT08. I’ve heard DeWalt has more power but Makita is lighter. Any advice? I mostly do suspension and brake jobs.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either. DeWalt’s a beast for busting rusted bolts, but it’s kinda heavy if you’re working overhead. Makita’s got a better ergonomic grip and the brushless motor lasts longer. I’d say if you’re doing a lot of undercarriage work, go DeWalt. For everything else, Makita.

I’m just an apprentice but I use the DeWalt at work and it’s never let me down. That thing ripped off a lug nut that was welded on with rust. But my boss has Makita and he says the battery lasts all day. So I guess it’s what you care about more: raw torque or run time.

Thanks guys! I think I’m leaning Makita for the lighter weight since I’m not super strong. Also, I saw DeWalt has a new model coming out next month... should I wait? Or just go with the XWT08?

If you wait, you’ll always be waiting. Get the Makita now and start wrenching. That new DeWalt might have issues anyway. Stick with a proven tool.
