Eye protection: Do you guys actually wear safety glasses?

Alright folks, I know we all love our tools, but let's talk safety. I've been in the game for 20+ years, and I've seen too many guys skip eye protection when using an angle grinder or a wire wheel. I'm here to tell you, one stray wire or spark can ruin your day, and your eyes. I always wear safety glasses, even for quick jobs. Anyone else have a story or a habit they want to share?

I'm guilty of skipping them sometimes on quick grinder cuts, but last week a piece of grinding wheel flew up and hit my cheek. Didn't get me in the eye, but it was close. Scared me straight. Now I keep a pair in every toolbox and on my workbench. Also, I found these anti-fog ones that don't steam up so much, that used to annoy me. Good tip OP.

I always wear them, but I've also got a story. My neighbor wasn't wearing any when he was using a nail gun and a nail ricocheted and hit him in the lens of his prescription glasses - just a scratch. If he hadn't had those on, he'd probably be blind in that eye. Since then, I've even been more careful with regular glasses - I got proper rated safety glasses. Better safe than sorry I reckon.

I have a whole collection of safety glasses, but honestly the biggest issue is fogging and scratching. I bought a box of those cheap ones and just toss them when they get bad. But let me tell you, I had a wire brush on a bench grinder shed a bristle and it bounced off my safety glasses - left a mark right in front of my pupil. That would've been my eye. No excuse, wear them always. And for the love of Pete, make sure they meet ANSI Z87 standards.
