Just scored a killer deal on a cordless impact wrench at Harbor Freight - too good to be true?

Hey guys, was picking up some electrical connectors at Harbor Freight yesterday and spotted their Earthquake XT cordless 1/2" impact wrench on clearance for $89. Normally runs $199! It's the brushless model with 1,200 ft-lbs of torque. Grabbed one immediately but now I'm second-guessing - anyone have experience with this brand for automotive work? My old Milwaukee is on its last legs and this seemed like a steal.

Sid, that's actually a solid find! I've used their Earthquake air tools for years on truck and equipment maintenance. For $89 you can't go wrong - even if it only lasts a couple seasons you're ahead. Just make sure you grab their extended warranty (like $20). Their cordless stuff has gotten way better recently. I'd say buy two at that price and keep one as a backup!

lol harbor freight strikes again! i got their earthquake impact driver for drywall screws last year and it's held up surprisingly well. for automotive tho? might wanna check the anvil - heard some guys on garage journal say they wear quick with heavy lug nut work. but for $89 who cares! burn it up and buy another. my 2 cents: if it feels good in the hand, run it til it smokes

Thanks guys - Rob you're right about the warranty, I'll go back and grab it. Luke, good point about the anvil, I'm mostly using it for suspension work and occasional wheel changes on my truck, not a pro shop environment. The battery platform is what worries me - if HF discontinues these in 2 years I'm stuck with paperweights. But at this price, maybe worth the risk. Appreciate the input!
