Best Car Vacuum for a Detail-Obsessed Shed Builder?

Hey folks! I'm about to build a 12x16 shed and want to keep my truck clean for hauling supplies. I've been looking at car vacuums, but there are so many options. I need something that can handle sawdust, dirt, and maybe even some small screws. What do you all recommend? I'm on a budget but want something reliable.

For sawdust and small debris, you want something with a good HEPA filter. I've got an old Shop-Vac that's been with me for 20 years - it's not fancy but it gets the job done. Just get a decent one with a car nozzle kit. Don't overthink it!

I'm with Felix on the Shop-Vac, but if you want cordless, check out the Milwaukee cordless wet/dry vac. I use it for cleaning up after landscaping, and it's got some serious suction. Pricey, but if you're already on the platform, it's a no-brainer. Also, get a crevice tool for the life of me, it's a lifesaver for those tight spots in the truck.

Ha! I just use a leaf blower to clear the truck bed, then a cheap $20 Walmart vacuum for the interior. But seriously, if you're hauling lumber, you'll get a lot of dust. I'd recommend a corded wet/dry vac with a long hose - you can leave it on the ground and reach into the truck. My Rigid 6-gallon has never failed me. Plus, it's got a lifetime warranty.

If you're on a budget, check out the Bauer wet/dry vac from Harbor Freight. I've had one in my truck for years, it's taken a beating and still works. But for car interiors, I actually use a small handheld (like a Black+Decker) for quick cleanups. For the shed build, you'll want something with more power though. Just don't get one of those little car vacuums meant for gas stations - they're useless.
