Car vacuum won't charge - battery issue?

Hey all, I've got a DeWalt car vacuum (DCV581H) that's been great for about a year. Now when I plug it in to charge, the LED just blinks red and it never charges. I've tried different outlets, same result. Anyone else have this? Is it the battery or the charger? I'm pretty loyal to DeWalt but this is frustrating.

Pete, I've had the same vacuum for 2 years and no issues. Blinking red usually means battery error. Do you have another DeWalt 20V battery you can test? If it charges fine with a different battery, then your original battery is shot. If not, could be the charger or the vacuum's charging circuit. Also, make sure the contacts are clean.

I had a similar problem with a cheap car vacuum from Amazon. Turned out the charger was faulty. But since you're brand loyal, maybe check if it's under warranty? DeWalt has a 3-year warranty on many tools. If not, you might be able to replace just the charger for cheaper than a new battery. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Dan and Bob. I tried another battery and it charges fine, so it's the original battery. Bummer. I'll check warranty status. Appreciate the help!
