DeWalt vs Makita cordless vacs - which sucks less?

Hey guys, I'm torn between the DeWalt DCV580 and the Makita XCV04Z. I need a shop vac for cleaning up drywall dust and sawdust from my workshop. I already have batteries for both brands, so that's not a factor. Which one performs better for fine dust? I've heard the Makita has better filtration but the DeWalt has more suction. Thoughts?

I'd go with the Makita. I've had the XCV04 for about a year now, and it handles wet spills like a champ. But for fine dust, you really need the HEPA filter. The DeWalt's stock filter clogs fast. Also, the Makita is quieter. Just my 2 cents.

Both are good, but I lean DeWalt. I have the DCV580 and it just sucks harder. I use it with a cyclone separator for dust collection and it barely clogs. The Makita might have better filtration stock, but slap a Dust Deputy on the DeWalt and it's a beast. Also, the DeWalt's hose is longer which helps when cleaning out my truck.

True, the hose length is a plus. But don't forget the Makita has a built-in blower port. If you ever need to blow out your shop or dry off a wet floor, it's handy. Also, the Makita's battery indicator is more accurate. Both are solid though, you can't go wrong.

Thanks for the input fellas. I think I'm leaning Makita for the HEPA and quieter operation, but I'm still worried about suction. Might just pick up both and return one. Appreciate the help!
