Hey all, I was using my Ryobi 18V hand vac yesterday and it just died. Won't turn back on, battery shows full charge on the charger but the vac does nothing. Anyone had this happen? Tried a different battery - same thing. Thinking it might be a motor or switch issue. Open to suggestions before I tear it apart.

Dude I had a similar issue with a Rigid vac. Turned out to be a blown fuse inside the battery terminal area. Check for a little glass fuse or a resettable breaker. If not, could be the trigger switch - those fail a lot. Easy fix with a multimeter.

Happened to me on a DeWalt! I'd check the motor brushes first. If they're worn down, you'll get nothing. Also make sure the battery contacts are clean - sometimes they get gunked up. Good luck man, let us know what you find.

Don't forget the obvious - check the filter. If it's clogged, some vacs have a thermal cutout that kills power. But since it's totally dead not just weak, probably not. I'd open the battery port and look for loose wires. Use a multimeter to trace power from the battery terminals to the motor.

Thanks for all the tips! I'll check the fuses and contacts first. If that fails, I'll crack it open and look for loose wires. Appreciate the help - will update when I figure it out.
