Milwaukee vs DeWalt cordless car vacuums - which one actually sucks better?

Hey folks, been cleaning out my work truck daily for years and my old corded shop vac finally died. Looking at the Milwaukee M18 FUEL and DeWalt 20V MAX cordless car vacuums. Both claim insane suction, battery life, etc. But who's actually using these daily on job sites or in their vehicles? Need something that can handle sawdust, metal shavings, and general construction grime without dying after a month. Bonus points if it doesn't sound like a jet engine. Real-world experiences only - tired of marketing fluff!

Wendy, I've had the DeWalt 20V for about 6 months now. Roofing debris is no joke - asphalt granules, sawdust from cutting fascia, nails, you name it. This thing eats it up. Battery lasts me through cleaning my truck bed and cab on one 5Ah. Only complaint: the hose attachment feels cheap and cracked after 3 months. DeWalt sent me a replacement no questions tho. My sparky buddy swears by his Milwaukee, says it's better for fine drywall dust. But for my money, DeWalt's been a tank.

Home inspector here - I use my Milwaukee M18 vacuum EVERY day. Different use case than you all maybe, but it's perfect for car interiors during inspections. Quiet enough I can talk to clients while using it. The fine dust filter is clutch for allergen testing prep. Battery? I get 20+ mins on high with a 6.0, more than enough. DeWalt might be tougher for big debris, but Milwaukee wins for precision and noise level. Plus their warranty process is smoother in my experience.

Thanks Steve and Tom. Steve - that hose issue worries me. I'm rough on gear. Tom - noise is a factor since I'm on phone sometimes. Anyone tried both? Also, what about wet pickup? Occasionally get coolant spills or mud tracked in. Marketing says both handle wet, but real world?

Wet pickup? Yeah, the DeWalt does ok with damp mud or spilled coffee. Wouldn't try sucking up a puddle tho. Filter clogs fast if you don't dry it. Pro tip: keep an extra filter in your truck. As for trying both - my apprentice has the Milwaukee. Side-by-side, DeWalt has more raw suction for big debris, Milwaukee is more refined. Comes down to: brute force (DeWalt) vs finesse (Milwaukee). For your metal shavings, I'd lean DeWalt. Just buy an aftermarket hose upfront lol.
