Hey all, just got a new cordless chainsaw (18V) and the battery won't charge. The charger light stays red, but after an hour it's still red and the battery is cold. I've checked the contacts, they're clean. Any ideas? I'm about to return it.

That sounds frustrating. Did you make sure the battery is fully seated in the charger? Sometimes they need a firm push. Also, some chargers have a trickle mode if the battery is too hot or cold. Let it sit for a few hours, then try again. If it still doesn't charge, it might be a bad battery or charger. Since it's new, I'd just exchange it at the store.

Yo, I had a similar issue with my drill. The charger light was solid red, but it wouldn't charge. Turned out the battery was in sleep mode - they get like that if you drain them completely. Some chargers have a reset button, or you can jump-start it with another battery. But since your saw is new, I wouldn't mess with that. Just take it back. They'll swap it out no questions.

Yeah, I tried reseating it and left it overnight, but still red. I think you're right, it's just a dud. I'll take it back tomorrow. Thanks for the help, guys. Appreciate it!
