Just saw this - Avista preppin for windstorm, thousands bracing for outages. Link: [article url]. As a homeowner with a woodlot I gotta say, my chainsaw's gassed up n ready. What's y'all's take? Got your saws prepped? Any tips for storm cleanup?

I always keep a cheap electric saw for light stuff, but for storms my old Husqvarna 450 is the workhorse. Pro tip: dont forget to mix fresh gas n check the chain tension BEFORE the power goes out. Also have spare chains n a file. Stay safe!

Noob here. Is it safe to use a chainsaw durin a storm? I mean, fallen trees near power lines n stuff. What if its wet? How do you even start if the battery is dead? My electric one needs a outlet...

@DrillMaster779 good questions. For storms, gas saws are better cuz no cords. But NEVER touch trees near power lines - leave that to pros. Wet wood can pinch the bar, so take it slow. Always wear chaps, helmet, eye/ear pro. I've been doing this 30 years, seen too many close calls. If you're new, maybe wait till after storm n stick to limbing.
