Chainsaw safety: Do you guys wear chaps?

Hey everyone, quick question. I've been cutting firewood for years and never bothered with chaps, but after a close call last week (kickback nearly got my leg), I'm thinking about getting a pair. Do you all wear them? Are they worth the money or just a hassle?

Oh man, glad you're okay! I'm pretty new to chainsaws, but my grandpa always drilled into me to wear full PPE. I picked up a pair of chaps from a local hardware store, and while they're a bit sweaty in the summer, they give me peace of mind. Better safe than sorry, right?

I wear them every time. Had a buddy who sliced his thigh open before chaps were common. Took months to heal and he still has a limp. They're not that expensive compared to a hospital bill. Plus, they make you look pro lol. Just make sure they're rated for your saw's chain speed.

I'll be honest, I used to be a rebel and skip them. But after reading about a guy who died from a leg cut, I got a pair. They're not that bad once you get used to them. Also, invest in a good helmet with a face shield and ear muffs. And always keep your chain sharp - dull chains cause more kickbacks.
