Alright folks, I'm torn between the DeWalt DCCS670 and the Makita XCU04Z. Need a battery chainsaw for some weekend tree trimming and firewood prep. Anyone have real-world experience with either? Leaning Makita for the 36V system, but DeWalt's 60V FlexVolt is tempting.

Make sure you check the chain brake and kickback features on both. I've seen too many accidents with underpowered saws. DeWalt has a better brake response time in my tests. Also, eye pro is non-negotiable, no ifs, ands, or buts.

Team Makita all the way! Their 36V system is bulletproof, and the XCU04Z has that variable speed trigger that gives you mad control. DeWalt's FlexVolt is good, but Makita just feels more refined. Plus, their batteries last longer between charges. Don't overthink it.

I've got the DeWalt and it's a beast. Cuts through oak like butter. The FlexVolt battery works in my circular saw too, so I've got ecosystem synergy. But I've heard Makita's is lighter, which might matter if you're holding it up all day. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm leaning DeWalt because of the battery compatibility, but I'll look into the chain brake thing Bob mentioned. Safety first even if it's just weekend stuff.
