Found a deal on a Husqvarna 450! Is it too good to be true?

Hey guys, just saw a Husqvarna 450 on clearance at my local hardware store for $299! That's like $150 off. It's an open box but looks brand new. I'm just a weekend warrior, mostly cutting firewood and clearing brush. Should I snag it or wait? Any experience with this saw?

That's a steal if it's legit. The 450 is a solid saw for the price point - 50cc, good power-to-weight ratio. But open box can be risky. Check the bar and chain for damage, make sure it starts cold, and look for any leaks. If it's truly mint, grab it. I've had mine for 3 years, no issues.

I'd jump on that! I bought a similar deal on a 455 Rancher last year and it's been perfect. Just make sure to check the fuel lines and air filter, sometimes open box ones get gunked up from sitting. Also, see if they'd let you return it if something's wrong.

Thanks guys! I went back and checked it. Started right up, chain was tight, no leaks. The manager even said if I have any issues within 30 days I can return it. So I bought it! Can't wait to test it out this weekend.

Nice work, Tim! That's a solid saw for the money. Just remember to break it in properly - don't run it at full throttle for the first tank, vary the RPMs. And use good oil mix. Let us know how it cuts!
