Makita XCU03 Chainsaw Won't Charge - Any Fixes?

Hey everyone, I've got a Makita XCU03 chainsaw and the battery won't charge. It's a 18V LXT 5.0Ah battery, and when I put it on the charger, the charger just blinks red. I've tried a different battery and it charges fine, so it's the battery. Anyone had this issue and know a fix? I've cleaned the contacts already.

Had the same problem with a DeWalt battery once. Ended up being a dead cell. Have you checked voltage with a multimeter? If it's reading below like 10V, the charger won't touch it. Sometimes you can jump-start it by connecting it to a good battery for a few seconds, but be careful. Or send it to a battery rebuild shop.

Yeah, Chris is right. If the charger blinks red, it's either temp issue or dead cell. You said it charges a different battery, so it's not the charger. Check the voltage on the suspects battery. If it's really low, sometimes putting it in a fridge for 20 min (if it's hot) then charging can reset the protection circuit. But honestly, if it's old, just get a new battery. Lithium cells don't like being drained completely.

I'll check the voltage tonight. It's not that old, maybe 2 years. But I have used it in the cold a lot. I'll also try the fridge trick if it reads low. Thanks for the tips!
