PSA: Don't Skip the Safety Glasses When Using a Chainsaw

Hey all, just wanted to share a safety tip that almost cost me an eye. Yesterday I was cutting some firewood, and a small branch whipped back and hit me right in the safety glasses. If I hadn't been wearing them, I'd probably be typing this with one eye. Please, always wear your PPE, especially eye protection. I know it's a pain sometimes, but it's worth it.

Amen to that! I've seen too many guys in the shop with missing fingers or eyes from not wearing proper gear. I always use a full face shield when I'm doing any serious cutting. And ear protection too, these saws are loud. Good reminder, Sparky.

I'm guilty of skipping the glasses from time to time, especially when it's hot and they fog up. But you're right, it's not worth the risk. Does anyone have a recommendation for anti-fog glasses that don't break the bank? I need something that actually works.

I use the ones with the foam around the eyes, they don't fog up as much. But if you need a cheap solution, try rubbing a little dish soap on the inside and wiping it off. Works in a pinch. And hey, better than nothing, right?

BuildItBob, I've had good luck with the 3M Virtua CCS, they have a foam insert and are like $10. Not too shabby. And if you're really in a bind, just tie a bandana around your face like a bandit haha. Just make sure it's not a red one, or the saw might get confused.
