Found a Dewalt DCD791 at a garage sale for $50 - steal or scam?

Picked up this Dewalt DCD791 drill/driver at a garage sale for $50, looks barely used. It's the bare tool, no battery or charger. I already have a couple of 20V Max batteries from my other tools, so that's not a problem. Just wanted to ask if you guys think it's a good deal or if I should have bargained lower? (I paid $50, but the seller was asking $80, so I felt good about it.) Also, are there any common issues with this model I should look out for?

The DCD791 is a solid brushless drill, I've had mine for 3 years and it's still going strong. $50 is like 60% off the price of the tool alone, and since you got batteries already, you're golden. Just make sure the chuck is tight and check for any weird noises when you run it. Also, sometimes people sell stolen tools at garage sales, so make sure the serial number isn't reported or anything. But if it's fine, you got a great deal!

Good find, but I gotta stick with Makita ;) Just kidding, that's a solid deal. I've used a friend's DCD791 before, it's got plenty of power for DIY stuff. But since you asked about issues, I recall some folks complaining about the chuck wobbling after heavy use. Make sure to test it on a straight bit to see if it runs true. Also, if it's an older model, check the battery contact pins for wear. But for $50, you can't go wrong.

Thanks for the tips! I chucked up a bit and spun it, seems true. Also checked the serial on Dewalt's site, not stolen. I tested it with my drill bits on some wood, and it's got plenty of torque. Plus the belt clip is still attached, and the handle is clean. I think I got lucky. Appreciate the feedback guys!
