Score! Is This DeWalt Drill Deal Too Good to Be True?

So I was at Home Depot today and they had a DeWalt 20V MAX XR Hammer Drill with a 5Ah battery and charger for $149. I know that's not the compact version, but seems like a steal. Is it worth grabbing or are there better options around that price? I do mostly light DIY, but I want something that'll last.

That's a solid price for a drill that'll handle most things you throw at it. I've been in the trades for 30 years and I've seen DeWalts take a beating. For light DIY, that'll be overkill, but you won't need to upgrade for a long time. Just make sure it's not a refurb or something. Check the battery date code to make sure it's fresh.

I agree with Sarah, and that's a good deal. But you might also want to look at the new Atomic series or the FlexVolt if you're into that. But if you're just drilling holes in studs and driving screws, this will do fine. I've restored whole houses with a drill like that. Also, check if it's in the clearance section or part of a promo, sometimes they have an extra battery deal.

DeWalt is my go-to. I've got their stuff for years, and I've never had a problem. That model you're looking at is the DCD791? It's a classic. At that price, I'd probably buy two if I had the cash. But hey, if you're on a budget, Milwaukee and Makita have decent options too, but you can't go wrong with DeWalt.
