Milwaukee vs DeWalt cordless drills - which one actually holds up on job sites?

Hey all, need some real talk here. I'm a landscape architect and my crew burns through drills like crazy - we're constantly drilling into hardscape, setting posts, you name it. Currently running a mix of Milwaukee M18 Fuel and DeWalt 20V XR stuff. The Milwaukee batteries seem to last longer in cold weather (big plus for winter projects), but I've had two DeWalt chucks fail on me this year. Anyone else seeing this pattern? Which platform are you guys actually trusting when you've got a full day of work ahead?

VoltVictor - drywall wizard here. I've been running Milwaukee exclusively for 5 years now. The M12 Fuel impact driver is my baby for hanging board, but for drilling into studs when I need to run electrical, I grab the M18. DeWalt's fine for homeowners, but their chucks DO get sloppy faster. Pro tip: Milwaukee's service centers are way better if you need parts. Last time my DeWalt died, I waited 3 weeks for a replacement chuck. With Milwaukee, I walked in and out same day. Just my 2 cents.

As a DIY dad who just finished my basement, I went with DeWalt because... well, they were on sale at Tool Discount Club last Black Friday? 😅 But seriously, I've put my 20V drill through hell - concrete anchors, lag bolts into joists, even some light masonry. It's held up fine for my needs. The battery life is decent, though it does drain faster than my neighbor's Milwaukee when we're both working. Maybe for pros Milwaukee is better, but for weekend warriors like me, DeWalt gets the job done without breaking the bank.

Thanks both - BeamBetty, that service center point is HUGE. Downtime costs me more than the tool itself. Rick, you're right about the price point - DeWalt's frequent sales are tempting. Follow-up question: anyone using the brushless models from either brand? I'm hearing mixed things about whether they're worth the upgrade for heavy use.

Volt - 100% go brushless. My Milwaukee brushless drills have outlasted the brushed versions by at least 2:1. Less heat buildup, more torque, and the batteries actually last. DeWalt's brushless are good too, but again... that chuck issue. Saw a guy on site last week whose DeWalt brushless chuck wouldn't tighten on a 1/2" bit. Embarrassing. Milwaukee's metal chucks on their Fuel line are bulletproof. #TeamRed all day.
