Deck build - impact driver or drill for structural screws?

Hey everyone, I'm about to start building a 12x16 deck for my backyard. I've got a cordless drill already, but I've seen people mention using an impact driver. Should I get one or will my drill do the job for driving 3-1/2" structural screws? Budget isn't huge, so I want to make the right call.

I'll second that. I used to use a drill, but after switching to an impact, it's night and day. One tip: get a set of impact-rated driver bits, especially hex bits. Standard bits shatter under impact.
