Hey y'all, I'm looking to buy my first cordless drill. Can't decide between the DeWalt DCD771 and Makita XFD131. I'm on a tight budget but want something that'll last for basic DIY around the house. Which one gives me the best bang for the buck?

I've had both. Honestly the Makita feels better built but the DeWalt is cheaper. If you can stretch your budget a bit, go with the Makita. But if not, the DeWalt will do fine for light use. Just don't expect pro-level power.

I've been using Dewalt for years on my projects. The DCD771 is a workhorse for the price. But if you ever plan to get more tools, consider the platform - Makita's 18V line is solid. For basic DIY, you really can't go wrong with either.

Thanks for the input! I think I'll go with the Makita since I might expand later. Appreciate the help!
