Eye Protection for Drivers: Do You Wear Safety Glasses?

Hey folks, quick PSA: always wear safety glasses when using impact drivers. I just had a close call yesterday - a screw snapped and a piece flew right past my face. I always wear them, but I saw a guy on a job site without them and it got me thinking. Do you guys always wear PPE when driving screws? Any good recommendations for comfortable glasses that don't fog up?

I never skip my safety glasses! I've had a few close calls too. I bought a pair of those anti-fog ones with the foam seal - they're a bit pricey but worth it. Also, I always make sure my glasses are rated for impact. You only get one set of eyes, right?

I gotta admit, I'm guilty of not always wearing them, especially for quick jobs. But after reading this, I'm going to start. Any tips for preventing fog when you're working up a sweat? I hate stopping to wipe them every 5 minutes.

Good question, Dave. I use the anti-fog wipes or just a little dish soap, rub it in, and rinse. Works like a charm. Also, look for glasses with ventilation - they help with airflow. And yeah, make sure they meet the ANSI Z87.1 standard. Better safe than sorry!
