PSA: Protect your eyes when driving screws!

Hey all, just a quick tip from an old hand. I've seen too many folks skip safety glasses when using impact drivers and screwdrivers. I was driving a #2 Phillips into some hardwood today and a bit slipped and flung a metal shaving right at my face. Lucky I had safety glasses on. That could have been an eye injury for sure. Don't be a hero, wear your PPE!

Great point, Carl. I always wear my safety glasses, but I've seen guys my age (I'm 25) think they're indestructible. Had a buddy get a screw bit stuck in his cheek once when the driver kicked. Coulda been worse. Also, don't forget ear protection if you're driving a lot - those impacts are loud.

Honestly, I've been guilty of not wearing glasses sometimes when working overhead. But after a screw dropped and bounced off my forehead, I realized how close that was to my eye. Now I keep a pair in my pouch and even a spare in the truck. Any recommendations for anti-fog ones? My lenses fog up when I'm sweating.

I use those DeWalt DPG501-1, they're anti-fog and pretty cheap. But the best advice is to just wear 'em. I also got a magnetic wristband to hold bits so I don't fumble and drop stuff. Safety first, but also efficiency - a fumble can cause a dangerous kickback.
