Scored a DeWalt DCD777 for $99 - Too good to be true?

So I was browsing the clearance section at Home Depot and found a DeWalt DCD777 20V MAX compact drill marked down to $99. That's like half price! It says 'factory reconditioned' but looks brand new in the box. Should I grab it? I've been meaning to upgrade my old drill and this seems like a steal. Anyone have experience with reconditioned tools?

Reconditioned DeWalt is usually fine. Just check the chuck for runout and make sure the clutch clicks on each setting. I've bought factory reconditioned before and got great use out of them. For $99, that's a solid deal for a compact drill. Just don't expect it to handle heavy masonry work. It's more for driving screws and light drilling.

Thanks guys! I went ahead and bought it. It came with two batteries and a charger, so it's basically a kit. I tested it on some screws and it feels powerful. Drives 3' screws into studs without struggling. The clutch clicks, no wobble. I'm happy with it. Now to find a deal on a impact driver to match!

Good to hear! Check the model number again, the DCD777 is actually a drill/driver, not an impact driver. So you'll want to look for a DCF887 or similar for impact duties. But yeah, for $99, you got a steal. DeWalt reconditioned often even comes with full warranty if you buy from an authorized dealer. Did you get a warranty?
