Hey all, been lurking for a bit but finally need some real advice. I'm looking at upgrading my impact driver and stuck between Milwaukee's M18 Fuel and DeWalt's XR series. Both seem solid on paper, but I want to hear from folks who use these daily on job sites. I do mostly drywall and framing - which one holds up better with constant use? Battery life a big deal? Any quirks I should know about? Thanks in advance!

Luke, I've run both for years doing drywall. Milwaukee all the way for me. The M18 Fuel has way better torque control when driving screws into studs - less stripping. DeWalt's good but feels clunkier after a 10-hour day. Battery-wise, Milwaukee's 5.0Ah lasts me through hanging board all morning. Only gripe: the belt clip on Milwaukee sucks, breaks if you look at it wrong. But overall, it's my daily driver.

Sparky here - I've burned through both brands on commercial jobs. DeWalt XR for electrical work, no contest. Lighter, fits better in tight panels, and the quick-charge batteries save my butt when I forget to plug in overnight. Milwaukee's overkill for most electrical tasks, plus their warranty service is slower. But if you're doing heavy framing, maybe go red. For drywall? Either works, but Betty's right about torque control.

Thanks Betty and Sid! Betty - how's the Milwaukee in cold weather? My garage isn't heated and I've had DeWalts act up below freezing. Sid - good point on weight, I do climb ladders a lot. Anyone have experience with DeWalt's brushless model vs Milwaukee's? Heard the DeWalt might have less vibration.

Luke, my Milwaukee's been fine in the cold, but I keep batteries inside overnight. DeWalt's brushless is smooth, but honestly after mudding all day I can't tell vibration difference. Pro tip: check Tool Discount Club's refurb section - got my last M18 there for 40% off. Just make sure it's not stolen lol.
