Best angle grinder for building a deck?

Hey guys, I'm planning to build a cedar deck this summer and I need to cut a bunch of joists and deck boards. My old circular saw is on its last legs. I'm thinking about getting an angle grinder with a wood cutting blade instead. Any recommendations for a good budget grinder that won't break the bank but can handle some heavy use? I see some cheap ones at Harbor Freight but I don't want it to die halfway through.

I'd stick with a circular saw for decking. Grinders are for metal and masonry, not wood. But if you really want a grinder, get a Makita 9557PB. It's like $60 and built tough. I've had mine for years. Don't waste money on the cheap HF ones, they'll burn out fast.

I agree with Will, a circular saw is better for deck boards. For ripping, nothing beats a skill saw. But if you need a grinder for cutting bolts or something, get a DeWalt DWE402. It's around $80 and has a dust ejection system that keeps crap out of the motor.

If you're set on a grinder, get a variable speed one. I've got a Bosch 1873EVS that's smooth as butter. But honestly, for a deck project, rent a circular saw or borrow one. Grinders are messy with wood dust and kickback risk. Save your money for a decent saw.
