Best grinder for building a deck?

Hey everyone, planning to build a 20x12 deck next month. I need to cut some metal rebar and maybe some angle iron for the frame. What grinder should I get? I'm on a budget but want something reliable. Any advice?

For cutting rebar and angle iron, you can't beat a Makita 4-1/2" angle grinder. I've had mine for 10 years and it still works like a champ. It's a bit pricey but worth every penny. Trust me, don't cheap out on this.

I'd say regardless of brand, make sure you get one with a paddle switch and a guard that's easy to adjust. Safety first! Also, get a cutting wheel rated for metal, not the thin ones for tile. And don't forget safety glasses and ear protection.

Since you're building a deck, you might also need to grind down some welds or smooth out cut edges. If you get a grinder with a variable speed, you can use it for grinding too, not just cutting. I'd recommend the DeWalt DCG412B, it's got good power and a nice grip. But if you can stretch, get the Makita 9557PB - it's a beast.

Honestly, for a one-time project, you can get a cheap $30 grinder from Harbor Freight and it'll do the job. But if you plan on using it more, invest in a mid-range like a Bosch or DeWalt. Also, consider getting a diamond blade for cutting rebar - it lasts longer and cuts smoother. Just my 2 cents.
