Cocoa prices?? In the grinders section? What gives?

Hey everyone, I know this is the grinders category, but I just saw this article about cocoa prices consolidating after big export purchases. Thought it might be relevant since we talk about grinding stuff here? Anyway, what are your thoughts? I'm more of a coffee grinder guy myself, but cocoa is interesting too. Or is this totally off-topic?

Uh, dude, you might be lost. This is about angle grinders, bench grinders, etc. Not cocoa beans! But hey, if you're looking to grind cocoa nibs, you could probably use a spice grinder or a burr grinder. I've used my old coffee grinder for spices, works okay but gets oily. For actual cocoa, you might need something more heavy-duty. But yeah, unless you're planning to use an angle grinder on a cocoa pod (don't!), this might be the wrong forum. lol.

I think the OP might be confused. We talk about woodworking and metalworking grinders here. Cocoa prices? That's a commodities market thing. But since you asked, I'll bite: cocoa prices are interesting for chocolate makers, but for us DIYers, it's all about the tools. If you want to grind stuff, tell us what material and we'll recommend a grinder. I've got a RIDGID angle grinder that's a beast for metal. For wood, my bench grinder with a wire wheel is great for rust removal. Cocoa? Not so much. Maybe try a food processor?

I collect vintage grinders, and I've never seen one for cocoa. Though I do have an old cast iron coffee grinder that might work for cocoa nibs. But seriously, this thread is in the wrong place. Mods might move it. That said, I read the article—cocoa prices are up because of export demand. Not sure how that relates to power tools. Unless you're using a grinder to make chocolate? That'd be a messy experiment. Stick to grinding metal and wood, folks.

Actually, I just remembered: I used my angle grinder with a sanding disc to shape a cocoa pod once for a craft project. It worked, but the smell was weird. Not recommended. But if you're serious about grinding cocoa, check out a manual burr grinder. Anyway, back to power tools: anyone tried the new DeWalt angle grinder? I'm thinking of upgrading.
