Hey guys, just bought my first angle grinder (cheap one from Harbor Freight) and I'm kinda nervous about kickback. I've got safety glasses and work gloves, but what else should I get? Don't wanna break the bank but also don't wanna lose a finger.

Dude, get a face shield! I had a cut-off wheel explode once and it saved my face. Also get some hearing protection, these things are loud. Don't cheap out on the guard either, keep it on.

As a pro, I'd say add a good dust mask or respirator, especially if you're grinding metal or concrete. The dust will kill your lungs. And yeah, Dan's right about the face shield. Not all PPE is expensive, just get the basics.

Safety Inspector here. Must-haves: ANSI Z87.1 rated safety glasses (side shields), a full face shield for high speed, hearing protection (earmuffs or plugs), and cut-resistant gloves (at least level 5). Also, never use a grinder without the guard and side handle. And inspect the wheel before mounting for cracks.

Thanks all! I'll pick up a face shield and some earmuffs. Tim, I'll double check my guard. Appreciate the advice, feel a bit safer now.
