So I saw this article about a new Philips coffee machine that does cold brew in 90 seconds. Link: https://example.com . I'm thinking about getting it but I'm on a budget. Anyone know if it's actually worth it or is it just hype? Also, does it have a built-in grinder? I don't want to drop extra cash on a separate one.

I've been restoring old espresso machines for years, and cold brew in 90 seconds sounds like a gimmick to me. Real cold brew takes 12-24 hours. But maybe they're using some pressure or something? I'd wait for reviews. As for the grinder, most of these all-in-ones have cheap burrs that you can't replace. If you're into coffee, get a separate grinder. Baratza Encore is a good budget option.

I'm just an apprentice when it comes to tools, but I've modded a few angle grinders into coffee grinders for fun (don't try that at home lol). This Philips thing probably uses a regular blade grinder, not a burr one. For cold brew, you want a coarse grind, so blades might work okay. But 90 seconds? That's faster than my angle grinder can grind beans haha. I'd say save your money and get a French press + a hand grinder.

Thanks guys. I think I'll pass on it then. Maybe I'll look for a used Baratza like Rick said. Bob, your angle grinder mod sounds crazy but I kinda wanna see it lol.
