Hey everyone, I just got a new battery-powered lawn mower (Ego 56V) and after the first use, the battery won't charge. I plug it in, the light on the charger blinks red, and nothing happens. Is this a common issue? Any tips?

First thing to check: are the contacts on the battery and charger clean? Sometimes they get dirty from grass or dust. Also, make sure the charger is plugged into a working outlet. Blinking red usually means a fault. Let it sit for a while and try again. If it still blinks, it might be a defective battery.

I've had a similar issue with my Ego. Turned out the battery was just too warm from use. Let it cool down to room temperature, then try charging. Also, check if the charger has a reset button. Some models do.

I'm a Makita guy, but I've seen this with other brands. Could be a firmware thing? Did you update the mower or battery? Probably not. Just contact the manufacturer. They might send a replacement. Don't mess with it too much.

I had a similar problem with a different brand. The charger was fine, but the battery was overheating internally. Let it cool, then try again. If that fails, check for any swollen spots on the battery casing. If you see any, don't use it, and call support.
