Hey everyone! Just got back from Home Depot and saw the Ridgid 18V Brushless String Trimmer on clearance for $99. Originally like $199 I think. I'm a DeWalt guy but this seems like a steal. Anyone have experience with this model? Should I grab it or wait for something better?

Dan, $99 for a brushless trimmer is a solid deal, but make sure you factor in the battery and charger if you don't already have Ridgid stuff. Those 18V batteries are pricey. Also, check the model number - some of those are older and have had issues with the head breaking. But if it comes with a battery or you have the platform, it's a no-brainer. Just my two cents.

I've used that trimmer on a few jobs. It's decent for homeowner stuff, but I'm a contractor and I'd pay more for a 40V or 60V if I were doing it professionally. But $99? That's a great price. I'd grab it, worst case you resell it for more. Just make sure it's not a display model - ask for a new one from the back. Good luck!

Thanks for the inputs! I checked and it's the brushless model, not the older one. It doesn't come with a battery, but I've seen Ridgid 18V batteries on sale often. I might just grab it and if I don't like it, return it. HD has a 90-day return policy, right? I'm going back tomorrow.

Yeah, HD is good about returns. And hey, if you're not happy, you can always sell it on Craigslist for $150, haha. Let us know how it performs if you get it!
