Mower Battery Not Charging - Anyone Else Seen This?

Hey all, new here. My 40V mower battery won't charge past one bar. I've tried different outlets, cleaned the contacts, nothing. Any ideas before I drop $ on a new one?

Could be the charger, not the battery. Do you have a multimeter? Check the voltage output from the charger. If it's dead, that's your answer. My buddy's battery was fine, charger was toast.

Safety first! If you check the charger, make sure it's unplugged and give it a good look for any burnt smells or swollen capacitors. Also, check the battery for any swelling or cracks. Those are signs of failure and could be a fire hazard.

I had a similar thing last year. Turned out the battery was just done - wouldn't hold a charge no matter what. But before you trash it, try putting it on the charger for 24hrs sometimes they need a reset. If that doesn't work, check the cells with a multimeter if you're comfortable.

Most big-box stores have a battery tester. Bring yours in and they can test it for free. If the charger is good and the battery tests bad, see if it's under warranty. I've got three different brands and the warranty process was a breeze with one of them.
