Alright guys, gotta share this. Was using my new electric trimmer this morning, thought 'ah its just a quick trim, no need for gloves'. It slipped while I was clearing a thick patch and the string wrapped around my finger. Bad cut, blood everywhere. Lesson: WEAR YOUR GLOVES. What PPE do you swear by for lawn work?

Yikes Felix, glad you're OK man. I learned the hard way too. For me, it's safety glasses ALWAYS. Got a rock to the eye once from a string trimmer - lucky it was just a scratch. Now I wear those 3M tinted ones even in overcast. And yeah, leather gloves with the cuff. What kind of gloves where you using?

Felix, that's a brutal wake-up call. I do this for a living and I've seen foot injuries from mowers and trimmers. Steel-toe boots are non-negotiable for me. Also hearing protection - those gas trimmers are loud, you'll regret not wearing earplugs in 20 years. Hope you healed up quick!

Felix, that sux. I always wear mechanix gloves when handling any tool. For string trimmers I also recommend those clear face shields - stops debris from hitting your face. Also, check your trimmer line: some of that cheap stuff can snap and whip back. Stick to name brand, it's softer on impacts.

Thanks for the tips all. I was just using some thin work gloves, not even proper yard ones. Going to grab a pair of those leather ones with the long cuff Gary mentioned. And a face shield - never thought of that. Cheers for looking out.
