Score! $50 for a barely used GreenWorks mower - worth it?

Found a GreenWorks 40V 16" cordless mower at a garage sale for $50. It looks almost new, not a scratch on it. The guy said it was his dad's and he used it twice. Charges fine, test ran it for a minute, cut some grass in the backyard. My old gas mower just died and I'm tired of messing with carburetors. Is this thing any good? I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my lawn, so I need something that gives a clean cut.

OOOH! Lucky find! I've been looking at those. I'm all about cordless these days. No more yanking on a pull cord or smelling like gas. My neighbor has one and his lawn looks like a putting green. Go for it! If you don't like it, you can easily resell it for what you paid. I'm actually jealous!

I've had one of those for two seasons now. Not the same model, but close. For a smaller yard, they're great. The battery life is decent if you don't let the grass get too tall. But here's the thing - you gotta keep the blade sharp. If you're really particular about the cut, invest a few bucks in a sharpener. I re-sharpen mine every spring and it makes a world of difference. At $50, you'd be silly not to take it. Even if the battery dies in a year, you got your money's worth.

Ah, yeah, they're plastic decks, but they're reinforced. I've hit a few rocks and roots with mine and it's fine. They're not meant for commercial use, but for residential, they're solid. Just don't go mowing a jungle with it. I've seen 'em last years with proper care. And hey, if you get the battery and charger with it, that alone is worth more than $50. You're getting the mower for free, basically. I say do it.
