Found this deal on a Stalwart 12V drill set for $52 with free shipping. Link in article. I'm thinking of picking one up for light duty stuff around the house and maybe some small garden projects. Anyone have experience with this brand? Is it worth it or just another cheap tool?

I've seen Stalwart before, mostly budget stuff. For $52 you're getting a 12V set, which isn't going to replace a good 18V or 20V drill, but for light stuff like assembling furniture or drilling in softwood, it might be ok. Just don't expect to use it for concrete or heavy duty. The batteries on these cheap sets often die quick, but at that price, you could treat it as disposable. If you're just a weekend warrior, might be worth a shot.

I'll be honest, I'd stay away. I'm a retired carpenter and I've seen too many cheap drills fail on the job. But for home use? Maybe. The big issue is 12V - you'll run out of power fast if you're doing any real drilling. I'd save up for a decent 18V like Ryobi or even Skil. But if you're only gonna use it once a month, go for it. Just keep your expectations low.

I agree with Dave. I'm a woodworker and I need precision and power. 12V is fine for driving small screws but for any real work it's lacking. Plus, Stalwart isn't known for quality. However, I gotta say, for $52, it's not a huge loss if it dies after a year. If you're on a tight budget and just need something for the occasional project, it might do the trick. Just don't plan on building a deck with it! 😂
