Dropped my mower off the truck bed - still runs! What's your 'torture test' story?

So I was loading up after a job yesterday and my old Toro push mower slid right outta the truck bed onto asphalt. Hit so hard the handle bent and the deck cracked. Figured it was toast, but for giggles I pulled the cord... fired right up! Still cuts grass today. This thing's from like 2005. Makes me wonder what cheapo new mower would survive that. Anyone else have a tool that took a beating and kept going?

OMG Patty that's wild! I'm not that brave with my tools lol. But last summer I tripped over my extension cord and yanked my Black & Decker drill off the ladder. It fell two stories onto concrete and the battery flew out. Put it back together and it still works, but the chuck is kinda wobbly now. My husband says I should retire it but it's my first power tool ever so I'm attached 😅 Do you think older tools are just built better?

Debbie, 100% older stuff had more metal. My dad's 80s Snapper would probably survive a meteor strike. But hey, your drill's a trooper! Wobbly chuck might just need tightening - check if there's an Allen screw. Pro tip: wrap your cords, girl! I've seen more tools killed by trip hazards than drops. Anyway, my mower's now my backup beater. Still wouldn't trust a big box store special with that kinda abuse.
