Need real talk: Milwaukee M18 vs DeWalt 20V for cordless string trimmers - daily use opinions?

Hey Tool Discount Club fam, looking to upgrade my string trimmer game. I'm torn between the Milwaukee M18 Fuel trimmer and the DeWalt 20V Max XR. I do about 2-3 residential lawns weekly plus my own yard. Need something that won't bog down in thick weeds and has decent runtime. Anyone using either of these daily? Not interested in spec sheets - give me the real-world dirt!

Roofing guy here but I use my Milwaukee M18 trimmer every day to clean up around job sites after we tear off shingles. That thing eats through overgrown crap around foundations like nothing. Battery lasts me 2-3 sites on a 5.0Ah. Only complaint - the head can get jammed with wet grass clumps if you're not careful. But Milwaukee's warranty service is solid when I've needed it.

HVAC perspective: I've had both. DeWalt's balance feels better for overhead trimming around condenser units (less wrist fatigue). But Milwaukee has more torque when you hit those stubborn vine weeds. Pro tip: get the DeWalt rapid charger if you go that route - my Milwaukee chargers seem slower. Both will handle daily commercial use, but if you're doing thick stuff regularly, lean Milwaukee.

Restoration specialist chiming in - I've abused both brands cleaning up after floods/fires. The DeWalt survived better when it got soaked in nasty water (just dried it out and kept going). Milwaukee's auto-feed head is nicer for daily use though - less stopping to bump. Honestly can't go wrong with either, but check Tool Discount Club's refurb section - got my DeWalt there for 40% off last month.

Thanks y'all! Exactly what I needed - real job site feedback. Sounds like Milwaukee for power, DeWalt for durability. Gonna check those refurbs like GarageGreg said. Appreciate you guys not turning this into a brand war thread like usually happens!
