Hey all, looking to upgrade my string trimmer for my landscaping business. Been using gas but tired of the maintenance. Narrowed it down to Milwaukee M18 Fuel or DeWalt 20V Max XR. Need something that can handle 6-8 hours of trimming daily, thick weeds, occasional light brush. Battery life and durability are key. Anyone using these daily in commercial settings? Real-world experiences appreciated!

OP - I spec these for clients all the time. For commercial daily use, Milwaukee hands down. Their M18 batteries have better runtime consistency when you're draining multiple packs per day. DeWalt's good but I've seen more motor brush wear on their trimmers after 2 seasons. Milwaukee's brushless holds up better. Pro tip: get the rapid charger and 4x 8.0Ah batteries if you're doing full days.

lol coming from tile, all I know is my DeWalt angle grinder never quits. But for trimmer specifically, my cousin's landscaping crew switched from DeWalt to Milwaukee last year. Said the Milwaukee has more torque for thick stuff and batteries last longer in heat. They're in Arizona though so maybe matters? Also Milwaukee's warranty process is supposedly easier if you register as commercial user.

Inspected dozens of landscaping trucks. Milwaukee dominates in commercial trimmer market for reason. DeWalt common in general construction but their outdoor power tools don't have same track record yet. Key thing: check battery compatibility with your other tools. If you're already invested in one battery platform, stick with it. Otherwise Milwaukee's ecosystem better for outdoor tools long-term.

Thanks all! Leaning Milwaukee based on this. Rob - good call on the multiple 8.0s. Tom - I'm actually mixed platform (some DeWalt drills, Milwaukee sawzall) so starting fresh. Anyone have experience with Milwaukee's trimmer head durability? Heard the auto-feed can be finicky.
