Tuna Can Test: Lifesaver or Overhyped?

Just read this article about the 'Tuna Can Test' for lawn watering. Has anyone tried this? Seems too simple to work. Thoughts?

I've been a safety inspector for years, and I've seen people wreck their lawns with overwatering. The tuna can test is a classic, it's actually pretty accurate. Just make sure you use a straight-sided can and measure an inch. Simple but effective!

I tried it last year after reading something similar. It's legit. I used a cat food can, cleaned it out first lol. But I also got a rain gauge to double-check. Better than guessing, that's for sure.

I'm a bit skeptical but willing to try anything to avoid killing my lawn again. My neighbor overwatered and the whole thing turned to mush. Does the test work for all soil types? I got clay, and water tends to pool.

Hey, I've used it for years! But I've got a fancy sprinkler system now, so I don't need it. Still, for those on a budget, it's the best cheap hack out there. Just don't forget to adjust for rainfall. I learned that the hard way.
