Hey guys, quick question. I've got a new laser level for some ceiling work, but it's beeping like crazy. Anyone ever use earplugs with those things? I'm worried I'll miss the beep if it goes off level.

LOL, earplugs won't help with a laser level's beep—you’ll still hear it fine. But seriously, if you're doing ceiling work, don't forget safety glasses and a hard hat. Dust and debris can rain down on ya. I learned that the hard way.

Yeah what Pete said. Earplugs are for big noise (saws, hammer drills). For a laser level, you might just need to move it away from your ears or use a remote. But Rick, if you're up on a ladder, make sure you're wearing slip-resistant boots. I've seen too many guys take a header.

Back in my day, we didn't have laser levels with beeps, just a bubble vial and a steady hand. But seriously, earplugs won't block that beep. If you really want to quiet it, tape over the speaker with a bit of duct tape—just don't cover the sensor. And always, ALWAYS wear eye protection. I've still got a piece of drywall dust in my eye from 1987.

Thanks guys, good tips. I'll grab some safety glasses and maybe tape the beeper. And I'll keep the earplugs for the saw next door. Appreciate it!
