I need a new tape measure. My old Stanley is toast. I'm torn between the DeWalt Tough Series and the Makita Shockforce. Anyone have experience with both? I mainly do framing and finish work.

I've used both. The DeWalt has a thicker blade and better standout, but the Makita has a nicer hook and the magnetic end is tight. I'd say DeWalt if you drop your tools a lot, Makita if you want accuracy.

I go through tapes like crazy in the garage. The Makita's blade coating seems to resist rust better. But the DeWalt's hook stays on longer. Honestly, they're both good. Flip a coin lol.

Thanks guys. I think I'll try the Makita this time. The magnetic hook sounds useful for metal studs.
