Hey guys! I was at a garage sale today and found a Mitutoyo digital caliper for $20. It's the 6 inch one, looks almost new. I've been using a cheap plastic one from harbor freight. Is this worth grabbing or should I pass? I mainly do DIY furniture and some home repairs.

Dude, $20 for a Mitutoyo? That's a steal if it's legit. Check the battery compartment for corrosion and make sure the jaws close nice and tight. Mitutoyo's accuracy is unmatched. I've had mine for 15 years and it's still dead on. Grab it before someone else does!

I'd say go for it. Even if it needs a bit of cleaning, Mitutoyo makes quality stuff. I use a vernier caliper from the 70s that still works perfect. But make sure it's not a counterfeit. The real ones have a smooth action. Good luck!

Thanks guys! I opened it up, all clean inside, battery was fine. Jaws close perfect. I bought it! Can't wait to use it on my next project. Need to measure some drawer slides accurately.

Nice! Welcome to the precision club. Now you can measure down to 0.01mm. Just don't drop it! And keep it in the case when not in use. PS: check out some videos on proper caliper care, those jaws bend easy if you're rough.
